Leftist parties protest power price hike

The left-leaning political parties observed their eight-hour hartal on Thursday in protest against the latest power tariff hike.

The hartal began at 6:00am while it was ended at 2:00pm.

On November 23, Ganotantrik Bam Morcha, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh (BSD) jointly declared to enforce the hartal in protest of the hike.

Meanwhile, BNP on Wednesday extended its full support for the half-day hartal.

The Progressive Student Alliance this morning occupied the Shahbagh intersection to support the shutdown.

On the other hand, the law enforcers were seen remain vigil on the different roads of the capital to avert any untoward situation.

Vehicular movements were seen normal in the city. No unwanted incidents were also reported during the strike.
