Gulshan attack charge sheet by this month: Monirul
Update Time: 5 Dec 2017 6:08 pm:
Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit (CTTC) Chief Monirul Islam said the charge sheet in Gulshan café attack case will be submitted by this month.
He came up with the disclosure while speaking to reporters at the media centre of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the city on Sunday.
He said seven accused of the case have been arrested, several others killed in different raids and four others -- Sagor, Ripon, Akram and Khalid -- remain fugitive.
Among the fugitives, Sagor is very important for the case, he said adding police are trying to capture them.
If it won't be possible to arrest the four, then the charge sheet will be submitted showing them as fugitive, he said.
On July 1 last year, seven gunmen stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka and opened fire and took around 40 people, including restaurant staff and guests -- both locals and foreigners -- hostage.
Twenty hostages -- nine Italians, seven Japanese, one Indian, one Bangladeshi American and two Bangladeshis -- were killed in the terror attack on the night.
Besides, two senior police officers -- Banani Police Station officer-in-charge Salauddin Ahmed Khan and Detective Branch assistant commissioner Robiul Islam -- were killed when they tried to rescue the hostages.
